Commercial Pesticide Applicator
$12 - $15 an hour DOE
Position Summary
Apply pesticides to appropriate areas as directed by Supervisor, as well as basic pesticide equipment maintenance.
  • Apply pesticides to flower beds and turf according to pesticide regulations.
  • Take direction from supervisor to complete other duties as assigned.
  • Minor mechanical cleaning and fluid checking of pesticide equipment as necessary or as asked.
  • Responsible for reporting completed jobs to supervisor.
  • Calibrate equipment to gauge the pounds or gallons per acre of pesticide used with the spreader or sprayer. (Training is provided)
  • Work with others to complete any necessary task as well as work  well individually.
  • Snow removal duties in the winter months as business needs dictate
  • Communicate any concerns or problems regarding pesticide application to immediate supervisor.
  • Communicate effectively with other employees to function as a team when necessary.
  • Be aware of safety issues or concerns, and report them to immediate supervisor.
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times as specified by immediate supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Able to take direction well
  • Able to maintain a good employment record; limited absences and tardiness
  • A motivated and loyal individual who takes pride in the work accomplished
  • Must have a valid drivers license
  • Able to understand written and or oral instructions
  • Able to accurately report completed pesticide applications
  • Able to be trained on calibration charts to gauge how much pesticide is used per acre
  • Able to be trained to run a motorized spreader/sprayer  and perform basic maintenance, cleaning, and fluid checks on a daily basis
  • Able to work independently and also in a team environment
  • Able to communicate effectively with supervisor and coworkers
  • Able to drive a pickup truck, and learn to use a motorized spreader
  • Knowledge of trees, shrubs and landscape equipment is helpful
  • Applicants should have prior pesticide application experience or be willing to acquire Turf and Ornamental certification.
Approximately 40-45  hours per week
Saturdays are required when workload dictates
Work is outdoors, in most weather conditions
Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds
$12 - $15 per hour DOE
