Join us Wednesday, May 24th at Boone's Saloon for our General Membership Meeting and learn about the Springfield Master Plan with our guest speaker, Kayla Graven, the Executive Director of Downtown Springfield, Inc.

The Master Plan is a blueprint for the future with a focus on Springfield's Downtown and Medical District. It is created by the community and will result in a set of policies and programs that direct future growth and development. Additionally, the creation of a Master Plan can lead to strategies that will help effectively guide community leaders as they make substantive and thoughtful decisions for the project study area.

The Master Plan will describe future goals and objectives for development, and include an action plan on how to achieve these goals and objectives. The Plan will also examine how Downtown Springfield and the Mid-Illinois Medical District can continue to serve the community with shopping, recreation, and service needs. This can include activation of public spaces, improvements to pedestrian and bike accessibility, mix of land uses and businesses, and opportunities to enhance public art.

The Downtown Springfield and Mid-Illinois Medical District Master Plan will address the following topics:

• Land Use & Reinvestment
• Placemaking - Public Realm Activation & Streetscape
• Active Transportation & Parking

The Coalition is committed to involving residents, businesses, and workers in the process to craft a community vision for City's future. Ultimately, the City of Springfield's City Council will adopt the Master Plan.

You can get involved in all the Master Plan activities, from data collection to community visioning and mapping, to the creation of community goals and objectives.
